Service Centres

A service centre works against its own climate all day. Roller doors cycle constantly as vehicles move in and out, taking the heated air with them every time. Engines run indoors, so extraction has to pull fumes out — and every cubic metre extracted is conditioned air you paid for, leaving the building. Heat the space harder and the bill climbs; extract harder and the heat goes with it. The answer isn't more of either. It's a system designed for a building where the doors and the extraction are part of the physics.

What a workshop actually needs

Make-up air that balances the extraction. Extraction without designed make-up air pulls cold draughts through every gap in the building and drags the doors' worth of weather across the workshop floor. Supplying make-up air deliberately — tempered, distributed, where the work is — keeps the extraction doing its job without the building fighting itself.

Recovery after every door cycle. The doors are the business; they can't stay shut. The system has to re-establish comfortable conditions quickly after each opening, without overheating the bays that stayed closed. Designed air induction and distribution treats recovery as the normal case, not the exception.

Odour and fume control. Ventilation earns its keep beyond comfort — make-up air for processes and odour control keep the workshop and the customer-facing areas breathing different air, which anyone who has walked from a reception into a workshop will understand.

Comfort without the running costs

Where mechanical cooling isn't needed for compliance, ventilation is an effective low-running-cost comfort solution — and it pairs well with evaporative cooling for the hottest weeks. Hybrid systems that incorporate heating and cooling can include heat recovery and cooling retention, so the energy you've already paid for does a second shift.

For the heating itself, heat pumps deliver 30 to 50% lower heating costs than gas with reduced carbon emissions — a meaningful line on the accounts of any operation running heating through every working hour. Our consultancy and design process works out which combination your building actually justifies, rather than defaulting to the biggest kit.

One team for whatever is already installed

Most service centres inherit their climate systems — a mix of brands, ages and installers. Our service and maintenance engineers maintain equipment from a wide range of manufacturers whether we installed it or not, and upgrades and optimisation is often the honest recommendation: improve what's there before replacing it.

Describe the building — bays, doors, extraction, what the heating costs you now. We'll tell you where the money is going and what would hold the comfort without it. Call 0121 770 7466 or email sales@jetenvironmental.com.
