Rail

A rail depot or maintenance shed is built to let trains in, not to keep heat in. The roads run straight through the building, the doors at each end open to whatever the weather is doing, and the roof is high enough that whatever heat you generate collects up there among the gantries. The people working under the units feel none of it. This is not a rail-specific mystery — it's the same physics we solve in more than 80 warehouse and distribution-centre installations, applied to a building with trains in it.

The depot problem, honestly stated

High roofs hoard heat. Warm air rises past the gantries and sits under the roof doing nothing while the pit and floor level stay cold. Destratification through nozzle air distribution recirculates it back to the working zone — you stop generating new heat to replace heat you've already paid for.

The building is open at both ends. Every unit movement swaps conditioned air for weather. The system has to be designed for recovery as its normal operating condition, not as an exception — Balanced JET Technology re-establishes uniform conditions across the full volume, holding ±1.0°C once recovered, with nothing installed at high level to maintain.

Long, thin volumes defeat point heating. A depot is hundreds of metres of building with the work spread along it. Point heaters create hot islands and cold roads. Designed air distribution treats the whole volume as one system.

Frost protection where sprinklers can't freeze

Stabling sheds, stores and lightly heated ancillary buildings carry a quieter risk: a fire-sprinkler system exposed to frost. The primary purpose of frost protection is the safe operation of sprinkler systems — typically holding the internal area at or above 5°C. Our method circulates the heat the building already generates internally via nozzle air distribution, which is remarkably efficient because the system rarely needs to create heat at all. We've delivered more than 40 frost-protection systems on that principle.

Where we stand with rail

We won't dress this up as a rail track record — our history is in warehouses, distribution centres, production facilities and hangars. But a depot shares its physics with all of them: huge volume, high roof, doors open to the weather, people working at floor level. The engineering transfers directly, and we'd rather prove that than assert it — CFD performance modelling shows how your depot will behave before anything is built.
