The challenge: frost protection with zero compromise on sustainability
Prologis needed a durable, environmentally responsible frost protection solution to safeguard the internal fire sprinkler system at a newly constructed manufacturing and distribution facility in the West Midlands — critical infrastructure that had to perform reliably through the harshest winter conditions.
- Reliable frost protection for a mission-critical fire suppression system
- Internal temperatures maintained at 5°C even as external conditions fall to -5°C
- An all-electric, sustainable solution with no on-site fossil fuel combustion
- Fast-track delivery to align with the facility's fit-out programme
Our solution: an all-electric air-to-water heat pump system
Working alongside fit-out contractor TanRo, Jet Environmental designed and installed a bespoke all-electric heat pump system engineered for extreme winter performance and rapid deployment.
- External air-to-water heat pump paired with an indoor air-handling unit
- Thermal buffer tank ensuring consistent, reliable heat delivery
- 300kW heating capacity with 10 m³/s of air supply
- Installed and commissioned within three months
"We understand that HVAC systems are critical assets, especially where frost protection is vital for operational continuity."
Jason Hibbs, Managing Director, Jet Environmental
What we delivered
Extreme winter performance
Maintains a steady 5°C internally even when external temperatures fall to -5°C, protecting the sprinkler system from frost damage.
All-electric and sustainable
A fully electric heat pump solution supports Prologis's decarbonisation goals with no on-site fossil fuel combustion.
Rapid delivery
Designed, installed and commissioned within three months to keep the wider fit-out programme on schedule.
Critical asset protection
Safeguards the fire suppression system and wider warehouse assets against frost-related failure.
What the contractor said
"Their technical expertise, attention to detail and ability to provide a sustainable, all-electric system have been invaluable."
Mike Wall, Contract Manager, TanRo
